Privacy Policy

What Shipd does

Shipd is a browser extension that shows you relevant software alternatives and complements while you browse. It reads the current page URL and page content to identify the site category, then fetches product recommendations from our database.

Data we collect

• Page context — the hostname and a keyword summary of the page you are visiting. This is processed locally in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
• Upvotes — when you upvote a product, the product ID is stored locally in your browser and the upvote count is incremented in our database. No account or identity is required.
• Category feedback — if you correct a category, the hostname and your suggested category are sent to our database to improve future detections.

Data we do not collect

• We do not collect your browsing history.
• We do not track which sites you visit beyond the current tab context.
• We do not require an account or any personal information.
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties.

Third-party services

Shipd uses Supabase to store product data and category feedback. Supabase's privacy policy applies to data stored there. Favicon images are fetched via Google's favicon service.

Local storage

The extension uses Chrome's local and session storage to cache site categories, workflow data, and your upvote history. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted.
